Overall

Padua DA, Marshall SW, Boling MC, Thigpen CA, Garrett WE Jr, Beutler AI (2009). The Landing Error Scoring System (LESS) is a valid and reliable clinical assessment tool of jump-landing biomechanics: the JUMP-ACL study. Am J Sports Med 37(10):1996-2002.

Scored 0 to 19 on the test leg; joint displacement and overall impression score 0 to 2. Published for a drop jump; read here on a landing in play.

Each item is read at its published phase. Where the published screen judges an item by eye, Xalo applies its own threshold.

Measured against their own normal.

Xalo learns each player's normal from their healthy sessions and reads every landing against it.

Why it matters, in four numbers.

Injuries decide seasons.

  • $3–4B

lost to injuries every year across elite football, basketball and baseball

The annual injury cost across the sports Xalo serves, against $25–30B in elite player wages.

FAQ

What it covers and what it needs.

01Which sports and movements does Labs read?

Football, basketball, American football and cricket today, with the movements shown above. More are being added, bowling among them.

02What footage does it need?

Broadcast, tactical or training camera footage is enough to start. GPS, wellness, medical and biology data add detail where the club has them.

03Is it live?

Yes. The whole squad is read while the session runs, on a small processing unit we install at your ground.

04Is this injury prediction?

No. It flags movement change and suggests a correction. It is guidance, not a diagnosis, and the call stays with your staff.

05Does it work on training footage?

Yes. Training is often where a player's baseline is built.

06How are players identified?

Each body in the footage is matched to the right player in your squad.

07What about privacy?

The club owns its data and footage. Processing follows UK GDPR, and we support a data protection impact assessment before deployment.
